#LASD Major Crimes Burglary Task Force Thwarts a Third Residential Knock Knock Burglary Crew this Week

On May 19, 2017, at approximately 12:05 PM, investigators from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s, Major Crimes Bureau, Burglary-Robbery Task Force (BRTF), arrested three suspects (one adult and two juveniles) following a residential burglary they had committed in the city of Cerritos.  Investigators observed one suspect force their way into a rear door of a home located near Bingham Street and Alburtis Avenue.  A short time later, the suspect left the home, re-entered a black Nissan Altima sedan which had remained parked nearby, and quickly drove away from the neighborhood.  BRTF detectives determined a residential burglary had occurred, and the home had been ransacked, and requested assistance from Cerritos and Lakewood Sheriff Stations.  Uniformed marked black and white radio cars responded and attempted to detain the vehicle and suspects.

The suspects failed to yield and a pursuit ensued.  The suspects led the pursuit northbound on the 605 freeway to westbound on the 105 freeway eventually exiting into the city of Lynwood.  The suspects stopped their vehicle and fled on foot.  All three were apprehended a short time later by responding deputies.

Detectives are processing the suspect’s vehicle as well as searching the route of travel in an attempt to recover evidence and property.  The victims are still determining what was taken from their home.

The suspects were transported to and booked at the Century Sheriff Station in Lynwood.

Suspect Christopher Moore, MB/23, of Lynwood California, Bk #4992-340, was booked on charges of Residential Burglary (459 PC), Conspiracy to Commit Burglary (182 PC), and Felony Police Evading (2800.2  VC), and is being held in custody without bail due to the fact he is currently on probation for a prior felony burglary conviction.

The two juvenile subjects were booked and released to their families with a court date to be determined.

The LASD MCB Burglary-Robbery Task Force was formed over six years ago to combat the ever increasing trend of organized crews who are committing daytime residential burglaries.  Typically known as “Knock-Knock” burglars, these crews, often formed by gang members, utilize high-end luxury vehicles to blend into middle class and affluent neighborhoods where they break into homes and businesses ransacking and stealing valuables such as cash, jewelry, and weapons.   The MCB BRTF works closely in support of all Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Station’s detective bureaus, as well as other Southern California law enforcement agencies.  Residents and business owners are reminded to secure their properties, be aware of suspicious and unusual persons or vehicles, and to alert their local law enforcement immediately if suspicious activity is observed.

Residents should call 911 if a life threatening emergency is detected and/or their local police business line if a suspicious person or vehicle is observed.  The MCB Burglary-Robbery Task Force can be contacted via e-mail at [email protected] for tips, questions, or concerns.

Anyone with information about these incidents is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Major Crimes Bureau, Burglary-Robbery Task Force at (562) 946-7187.  If you prefer to provide information anonymously, you may call "Crime Stoppers" by dialing (800) 222-TIPS (8477), or use your smartphone by downloading the “P3 Tips” mobile app for FREE or “P3 Mobile” for the hearing impaired, or by using the website http://lacrimestoppers.org.
