Deputies arrest a man in Loma Linda for assault with a deadly weapon

LOCATION: 25700 block of Barton Road, city of Loma Linda
SUSPECT: Patrick Soward, 60-year-old male, resident of Banning
SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, May 16, 2017 Loma Linda deputies responded to a call of a stabbing in the 25700 block of Barton Road. Deputy B. Ortiz arrived to find a victim with a severe stab wound to the upper arm. Through further investigation, Ortiz identified Patrick Soward as the suspect who stabbed the victim.
Deputies conducted an extensive area search for the suspect and the suspect vehicle. Deputies located Soward and his vehicle at the Jerry L. Pettis Veterans Hospital parking lot and Deputy M. Gascon and VA Police arrested Soward without incident. At the time of his arrest, Soward was in possession of drug paraphernalia and suspected heroin.
Deputies booked Soward into the West Valley Detention Center on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, spousal abuse and possession of heroin.
