Road Closure

The City of Ontario, in partnership of the Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau, is proud to be the host of the 2017 Amgen Tour of California Stage 5 Men’s Start tomorrow (Thursday, May 18, 2017), featuring the world’s most elite bicycle racing teams, marks the third time Ontario has hosted a stage culminating at Mt. Baldy.

It’s been called the “Queen Stage” and compared to the epic stages of the European Grand Tours. The training ground for many local Southern California riders, the race will return to the mountaintop finish that thrilled fans in 2011, 2012 and 2015. Only a handful had done the entire route, but after the race contested the climb in 2015, this is now one of hottest Strava segments in the U.S.

Cyclists will start at the Ontario Convention Center (2000 East Convention Center Way) and travel west on Holt Boulevard to North Corona Avenue to East G Street to North Euclid Avenue up to Mt. Baldy. For the safety of the cyclists and the attendees, the following street closures will be intermittent from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM

•         East Holt Boulevard to North Corona

•         North Corona Street to East G Street

•         East G Street to North Euclid Avenue

•         North Euclid Avenue to the I-10 Freeway Eastbound off-ramp

The start of the race is at 12:00 PM. The public is invited to cheer on the cyclists as they begin the most strenuous leg of this popular race. The event is free and open to the public. For more information: http://www.amgentourofcalifornia.com/stage5
