SCV Auto Repair Shops Targeted in Inspections; Two Found to be Operating Without License

On May 10, 2017, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station Detectives assisted investigators from the Taskforce for Regional Autotheft Prevention (TRAP) and the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) in conducting local business inspections at automotive repair facilities. These inspections are done in order to audit the records of automotive repair facilities, and to ensure they are operating with established legal guidelines.

During the inspections, two Canyon Country automotive repair facilities located on the 26400 and 26800 block of Ruether Avenue were found to be operating without a license that is issued by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair.

Detectives also recovered a stolen engine and a stolen transmission inside of a vehicle at one of the businesses. TRAP investigators are conducting the follow-up investigation on the stolen parts.

Both businesses were issued citations for the violations which may result in fines and/or a revocation of their licenses.
