Norton Shores Police Officer Jonathan Ginka was involved in an on duty crash in which he succumbed to his injuries.

Reference: On Duty Officer Involved Death
On 5/10/17 at 0232 hours a nearby resident reported a single vehicle accident involving a Police Car at Henry St. and Ross Rd. Emergency Personnel arrived on scene and began treating Officer Jonathan Ginka who was severely injured. The officer was transported to Hackley Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Michigan State Police were called in to investigate the accident and at this time it is undetermined how the crash occurred.
Officer Jonathan Ginka was 34 years old and a 10 year veteran of the Norton Shores Police Department and leaves behind a wife and 2 children. The department and family would like to thank the public for the support during this difficult time.
