Full Notification

This afternoon, approximately 2:16 pm, the San Leandro Police Department received calls of a possible assault with a knife that occurred on or near the McKinley Elementary campus.  For the safety of the students and faculty, we requested the school be placed on “lockdown” status until we could determine it was safe.
 
When officers arrived, they determined that the incident originated across the street from the school on E.14^th Street and had nothing to do with the campus.  There was, in fact, no assault and all parties have been detained and interviewed.
 
Within moments of our arrival, the supervisor on scene lifted the lockdown at the school.
 
At no time were any of the students and/or faculty members in any danger.
