Flood Update

Rainfall during the week of April 16-22 caused a three day delay in the reconstruction of the levee. Warm weather and the absence of since has made it possible for the project to proceed uninterrupted. To date, the levee reconstruction is 85% complete and work is proceeding as scheduled. The Cross Creek Flood Control District anticipates that he project will be finalized by the end of May 2017.

Water being released from Lake Success, Lake Kaweah, and Pine Flat Reservoir is being diverted elsewhere or used for irrigation.       To date, no farmland near the Corcoran levee has been flooded.

As a result of good weather and exceptional flood water management throughout the region, the threat of flooding in Corcoran has thus been significantly reduced. However, snow pack levels and precipitation has made 2017 the fourth wettest year on record. Warm weather and spring rains could intensify the risk of flooding. The reconstruction of the levee will provide continued protection in the event of unprecedented snow and rainfall this year and in years to come.
