Deputies arrest a Riverside Preparatory High School student after he made threats towards other students

INCIDENT: CRIMINAL THREATS
SUSPECT(S): Austin Roach, age 18 of Victorville
SUMMARY:
On Monday, May 1, 2017, at approximately 6pm, deputies received information that Austin Roach, a student at Riverside Preparatory High School in Oro Grande, had made threatening statements to other students. The statements were severe and threatened the safety of the students. Deputies were told the school administration was made aware of the threats and were familiar with Roach.
Detectives and deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station went to the school at the beginning of the school day to make contact with Roach and insure the safety of the students and staff. Roach was not found in possession of any weapon; however, deputies located evidence substantiating the threats.
Austin Roach was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center in lieu of $25,000.00 bail. The investigation is ongoing.
