One adult and three children killed in a traffic collision on Air Expressway

DATE/TIME: Friday, April 28, 2017/8:11 p.m.

INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision

LOCATION: Air Expressway and Phantom West, Victorville

INVOLVED PARTY (1): Mercedez Breda, 33-year old Adelanto resident, driving a green 1999 Toyota Corolla (DECEASED)

INVOLVED PARTY (2): Llesenia Lomeli, 30-year old Adelanto resident, driving a silver 2006 Honda Accord

INVOLVED PARTY (3): Brandom Madrid-Quintero,19-year old Hesperia resident, driving a white 2003 Ford Explorer

INVOLVED PARTY (4): 11-year old female Adelanto resident. Name withheld pending next of kin notification. (DECEASED).

INVOLVED PARTY (5): 6-year old male Adelanto resident. Name withheld pending next of kin notification. (DECEASED).

INVOLVED PARTY (6): 2-year old male Adelanto resident. Name withheld pending next of kin notification. (DECEASED).

SUMMARY:
On April 28, 2017, deputies responded to a multiple vehicle traffic collision on Air Expressway.

Llesenia Lomeli was driving a silver Honda Accord west on Air Expressway, in the #2 westbound lane. An unidentified person was driving a silver Chevrolet Impala west on Air Expressway in the #1 westbound lane. Brandom Madrid-Quintero was driving a Ford Explorer east on Air Expressway in the #2 eastbound lane. Mercedez Breda was driving a green Toyota Corolla west on Air Expressway behind the Honda Accord and Chevy Impala.

The Toyota Corolla entered the #2 westbound lane, passing the Chevrolet Impala and sideswiping the driver side of the Honda Accord. After colliding with the Accord, the Corolla crossed into the eastbound lanes of Air Expressway and collided with the Ford Explorer in a head-on collision in the #2 eastbound lane.

Breda, an eleven-year-old female, and a two-year-old male, who were passengers in her vehicle, were pronounced deceased at the scene. A third passenger, a six-year-old male, was transported to Victor Valley Global Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. A fourth passenger, a nine-year-old female, was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center with major injuries and is listed in critical condition.

Madrid-Quintero was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center for complaint of pain and for treatment of pre-existing medical conditions that are unrelated to this collision.

The collision is under investigation by the Victorville Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.).
