SEXUAL BATTERY ON THE SANTA ROSA JUNIOR COLLEGE SANTA ROSA CAMPUS (JC 17-227)

On Friday, April 28, 2017, the Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) District Police were notified of a sexual battery which had occurred on the Santa Rosa Campus the previous day. On Thursday, April 27, 2017 a male high school student and female high school student were on a field trip to the SRJC Planetarium. At one point during the planetarium show, the juvenile male groped the juvenile female over her clothing without her consent while he masturbated. The female notified high school officials the following day who then contacted the SRJC District Police. Neither juveniles are SRJC students.

The SRJC District Police investigated the incident, partnering with local police, crisis counselors, and high school officials. The female was provided victim resources and counseling from police and high school officials. The female’s parent was notified.

The SRJC District Police arrested the male juvenile for section 243.4(e)1 of the Penal Code, Misdemeanor Sexual Battery. The male was then transported to Sonoma County Juvenile Hall. The male’s parent was notified. The high school will be conducting their own conduct investigation.

We are not releasing any suspect or victim names due to the fact all involved parties are juveniles.
