*2nd Update* #LASD Homicide Investigates Discovery of Poss Human Remains, Templin Hwy/Old Ridge Rte. Lake Hughes

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding found partial human remains discovered on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at approximately 11:54 a.m., near Templin Highway and Old Ridge Route Road, unincorporated Lake Hughes.   
 
Homicide detectives and Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner personnel have concluded a search for additional human remains and recovery efforts.  
 
What is believed to be an adult skull and teeth were the only parts found and recovered.  Investigators collected and transported the remains to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office where they will be examined to determine if they are human and for possible identification of the deceased.
 
There is no further information at this time.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation into the discovery of possible human remains. The discovery occurred Thursday, April 27, 2017 at approximately 11:54 a.m., near Templin Highway and Old Ridge Route, unincorporated Lake Hughes.

Detectives have learned that an environmental survey study crew were in the area, when they discovered what appears to be partial adult human remains. They contacted the Santa Clarita Sheriff Station to advise of the discovery. The remains appear to have been in the area for a long period of time.  

Due to treacherous terrain, the recovery of the remains was suspended for the day. Personnel from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner’s office and Homicide Bureau will resume the recovery efforts in the morning at approximately 8:00 a.m.

The remains will be examined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner to determine if they are human. If they are found to be human, the Coroner’s Office will attempt to determine the cause of death and the identity of the deceased.
