First Sergeant Al Williamson Promoted to Lieutenant

Lowell-The Superintendent of the Indiana State Police, Douglas G. Carter, has announced the promotion of First Sergeant Al Williamson to Lieutenant that took effect Monday, April 23, 2017.
 
First Sergeant Al Williamson, Detective in Charge, has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and will serve as Area 1 (Lowell, Lafayette, and Peru Districts) Investigation Commander.
 
Williamson is a 1981 graduate of New Prairie High School in New Prairie (La Porte County). He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University at Bloomington in Public and Environmental Affairs specializing in Criminal Justice. In 1987, Williamson was accepted to the 45th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and upon graduation was appointed as a Trooper assigned to the Toll Road Post.  In 1989 he transferred to the Lowell Post and was assigned patrol duties in Porter and La Porter Counties.
 
In 1996, he was reassigned as a detective at the Lowell District and in 2008 was promoted to First Sergeant as Detective in Charge at the Toll Road Post.  Williamson was transferred in 2009 back to the Lowell Post where he was Detective in Charge until his current promotion to Lieutenant.
 
Lieutenant Williamson, during his career, has served as a Radar/Vascar instructor, Crash Reconstructionist, Trooper Trainer, and a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon (TIP). He resides with his family in La Porte County.
