Victorville PD's Major Accident Investigation Team investigate a fatal vehicle vs pedestrian traffic collision

INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: 7th Street near Desert Knoll Drive
INVOLVED PARTY #1: 17-year old male resident of Victorville (Deceased)
INVOLVED PARTY #2: 33-year old male resident of Adelanto
SUMMARY:
On April 22, 2017, at approximately 9:53 p.m., Victorville deputies were dispatched to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision that occurred on 7th Street, between Desert Knoll Drive and Victor Street.
Deputies discovered that a tow truck driven by a 33-year old male was traveling northbound on 7th Street. The 17-year old pedestrian crossed 7th Street in the path of the truck, and was struck.
The 17-year old sustained serious injuries from the collision, and was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital. The driver of the truck did not sustain any injuries.
7th Street was closed to traffic in both directions in the area of the collision until 5:00 a.m. This is an ongoing investigation by the Victorville Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT).
The pedestrian who entered the roadway was involved in a physical altercation prior to entering the roadway and being struck.
