On Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at 10:30 am, an eighty year old female (Carson resident) was the victim of a strong arm robbery at 218th Street and Main Street in the city of Carson. The suspect forcibly stole her purse and belongings, knocking her down to the sidewalk. The victim hit her head on the street, causing her to be transported to a local hospital. The suspect ran to an awaiting vehicle fleeing the scene. A passerby observed the victim on the sidewalk and the vehicle fleeing, captured the suspect’s vehicle license plate on a cellphone camera.

Carson Station Detectives and Patrol personnel, immediately began the investigation into locating the suspects. During an extensive manhunt throughout the evening, including leads which led to five locations in Carson, Harbor City, and the city of Los Angeles, the suspects were arrested and a majority of the Victim’s property was recovered.

Suspect Alexander Taufaao MO/19 and Jesus Renteria MH/18, were arrested for robbery and booked at Carson Sheriff’s Station. Detectives are planning a reunion for the victim and the witness, who chose to help her. We cannot be everywhere at all times and we are so grateful that someone that saw something chose to say something.
