Reminder: Meet Your Area Officers tonight at Four Pointes Center for Successful Aging, 1051 S. Beacon Blvd.

The Grand Haven Department of Public Safety will be holding the third neighborhood meeting tonight - Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 5-7 pm at Four Pointes Center for Successful Aging, 1051 S. Beacon Blvd. for the SW Quadrant of the city. The SW quadrant includes properties west of U.S. 31 and South of Pennoyer to Robbins Road.

The purpose of the purpose of the meetings is three fold:
1. Provide residents and business owners an opportunity to meet the officers that patrol the district and to discuss any safety and security concerns;
2. Provide “hands only CPR” training so that residents are prepared to render life-saving assistance to their families, friends, and those in need;
3. Provide important information regarding how to prepare a home emergency kit.

Attendees will have the opportunity to win a home emergency kit, which will be given away as a door prize. Light refreshments will be served.

Director of Public Safety Jeff Hawke said, “Relationships between the community and department are key in solving and preventing crime, solving problems, and preparing the community for emergencies. We want our residents to know personally the officers that patrol their neighborhood and also to have information to help in preparing for emergencies.”

The hands only CPR training is part of the Grand Haven Prepared initiative which began two years ago. Grand Haven Prepared educates individuals and businesses on the importance of emergency preparedness, before, during and after a disaster.

The final meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 15, 2017 from 5-7 pm at Trinity Reformed Church, 1330 S. Ferry Street for the SE Quadrant.

All community members are encouraged to attend. Additional information available on the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety Facebook page, or individuals can contact Officer Nichole Hudson at (616) 842-3460.
