...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PEACHTREE CITY HAS EXPANDED THE

* FLOOD WATCH TO INCLUDE PORTIONS OF NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA.

* THROUGH THIS EVENING.

* AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE DEVELOPING OVER THE GULF OF MEXICO WILL
MOVE ACROSS NORTH FLORIDA AND EXTREME SOUTH GEORGIA TODAY.
MODERATE TO LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP THIS
MORNING...AND CONTINUE THROUGH MUCH OF THE DAY. THE RAIN WILL
DIMINISH THIS EVENING AS THE SURFACE LOW MOVES INTO THE
ATLANTIC...AND THEN UP THE EAST COAST.

* RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF BETWEEN 1 AND 3 INCHES CAN BE EXPECTED
ACROSS THE WATCH AREA...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS.

RECENT HEAVY RAIN EVENTS HAVE CAUSED THE SOILS TO BECOME WET OR
SATURATED WITH WELL ABOVE AVERAGE STREAM FLOW LEVELS. THE
ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WILL QUICKLY TURN INTO RUNOFF AND CAUSE RISES
ON STREAMS...CREEKS AND RIVERS. THEREFORE...THE EXPECTED RAINFALL
COULD RESULT IN WIDESPREAD MINOR TO ISOLATED MODERATE FLOODING
ACROSS THE AREA. ALSO...PONDING OF WATER ON ROADS WILL BE POSSIBLE
IN LOW LYING OR SLOW DRAINING AREAS DUE TO DEBRIS IN DITCHES AND
DRAINS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON
CURRENT FORECASTS.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE
FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE
PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.
