INCIDENT: COCKFIGHTING
SUSPECT: Jesus Baca, 52 years old, resident of Victorville
SUMMARY:
On Thursday, April 13, 2017, Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Rural Crimes Task Force, along with Detectives from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station, served a search warrant at a residence in the 15000 block of Bonanza Rd in Victorville. While at the residence, deputies discovered a gamebird growing operation. Deputy Rob Oakleaf from the Rural Crime Task Force led the investigation locating multiple items and implements of cockfighting. Deputies found 66 separately caged roosters at the location.
The owner of the roosters, Jesus Baca, was arrested at the scene. All roosters were removed from the property.
Cockfighting is an inhumane act of animal cruelty where roosters are matched to fight against each other, often until death. The Sheriff’s Rural Crime Task Force works hand in hand with animal control agencies throughout the county to put a stop to any kind of animal fighting.
