UPDATE 04-14-17:

On April 6, 2017 the Janesville Police Department received a report of a suspicious person who was seen picking up a long gun from the ground near Lincoln School and putting it into the trunk of a car which left the area prior to police arrival (report JV1716834).

Also on 04-06-17 Janesville officers responded to 1305 W. Conde for a report of a theft of property from the home which included two guns being reported stolen (report JV1716911). The investigation into the theft revealed the suspect was Robert Ambrose who had been living at the home for approximately a month.

Investigators discovered Ambrose hid a stolen gun near the area of Lincoln school and came back later to retrieve it which prompted the original suspicious person call by a concerned citizen.

On 04-13-17 Ambrose was arrested for theft of a firearm. He is currently being held at the Rock County Jail.

The theft of the guns and arrest of Ambrose is unrelated to the Jakubowski investigation.

On Thursday, April 6th, 2017 at 7:13 AM, a citizen reported seeing a suspicious person near Lincoln Elementary School, 1821 Conde St. The suspicious person exited a vehicle, stumbled as if he were intoxicated, and picked up a long gun from the ground on the north side of the school near the street. The suspect is described as a white male, 6’ tall, thin build, with facial hair, wearing round glasses, blue jeans, and a green or blue hat. The vehicle is reported as a white 4-door vehicle with a curved rear bumper area.

There is currently no information that ties this incident to the Armageddon Gun Shop burglary currently being investigated by the Rock County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Janesville Police Department. However, the combination of these incidents contributed to the Janesville School District initiating the soft lockdown at all Janesville schools.
