2017 Central Valley Law Enforcement Police Explorer Competition

On April 7th – 9th, 2017 8 members of the Corcoran Police Department Explorer Program attended the Central Valley Law Enforcement Police Explorer Competition held in Tulare, California at the Tulare Ag Expo. A total of 21 law enforcement police explorer posts attended the competition. The competition allows the explorers to take part in different type of simulated scenarios and incidents that a police officer would encounter in the line of duty. The scenarios and incidents that the explorers competed in include crime scene investigation, felony traffic stop, DUI stop, domestic violence, hazardous response, crisis negotiations, building search, along with team physical competitions such as obstacle courses and tug of war. The CPD explorers who attended received a 5th place trophy in the Crime Scene Investigation scenario. Explorer Advisor Sgt. Pedro Castro expressed that the explorers who attended showed great teamwork and gained valuable experience for future competitions. The Explorers is a youth organization affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America that gives teenagers a chance to train with peace officers, learning the skills necessary to serve in law enforcement.
