On April 10, 2017, at 2:41 a.m. Deputy Ben Kiesel and Oakland City Officer Trevor Winters conducted a traffic stop on a Silver 2008 Jeep that was sitting in the roadway at the intersection of Harrison and Jackson Street in Oakland City. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Kiesel found the driver 36 year old Jeremy Newton of Oakland City passed out in the driver’s seat. While speaking with Mr. Newton Deputy Kiesel detected the odor of alcohol coming from the driver and began a roadside DUI investigation. At the conclusion of Deputy Kiesel’s investigation Mr. Newton was transported to the Gibson County Jail where was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated (DUI.) Mr. Newton has since posted a $650 bond.

All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
