More Illegal Dumping Near Calaveras High School
On 4-5-17 Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office received a tip connecting the remnants of a BHO lab discovered last week at Calaveras High School, to an additional dump site at 238 East Saint Charles Street.
Deputies responded to this location and discovered a significant dump site. Deputies along with members of Code Compliance and Environment Health worked to coordinate the cleanup. A Hazardous waste cleanup company was called to assist and remove the debris. A total of 9, 55-gallon drums of hazardous waste was removed and nearly 1000 cans of butane were discovered. Deputies and Environmental Health are treating the cleanup efforts involved with BHO labs and lab dumps in the exact manner as if it were a meth lab. This process is expensive and time-consuming. The cleanup at this site took nearly 5 hours.
