Advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning. Click link for info. Sheriff Victor Hill

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Flash Flood Watch in effect from 8am this morning through late tonight. A vigorous spring storm system will impact much of Georgia today. This weather system is expected to bring locally heavy rains to the Interstate 20 corridor, including the Atlanta Metropolitan Area. Rainfall amounts will average 1.5 to 2 inches, with locally higher amounts likely.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

In addition, the National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Clayton County, which includes isolated severe thunderstorms this morning. Damaging winds and large hail are the most likely hazards along with frequent lightning. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out with this activity.

Scattered to numerous severe thunderstorms are expected on today through Wednesday night. Damaging winds in excess of 60 mph, large hail to tennis ball size, and several tornadoes will be main hazards. A few of the tornadoes could be of the strong and long track variety producing extensive damage. Heavy rain can also be expected with minor flooding possible.

The citizens of Clayton County should exercise extreme caution when driving throughout the day. Any damage should not only be reported to 911, but to EMA as well. Monitor the local forecasts for the latest information, and ensure that your families are going to be safe if you're going to be traveling. This storm system looks to be very dangerous, so safety is the number one priority.
