Illegal Dumping at Calaveras High School

(San Andreas, Ca) On 03-30-17 at about 1245hrs, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office responded to Calaveras High School for an illegal dumping on school property. Deputies located 44 canisters of butane near the lower parking lot on High School Street. The butane canisters appeared to be garbage from a BHO (Butane Honey Oil) lab. A total of 44 canisters were located.

BHO is a popular trend in the marijuana culture. It is a process where butane is used to extract THC into hash oil or “Honey Oil.” These types of extraction processes are extremely volatile, and often these “Labs” can explode or catch fire. Temperatures in the explosions can burn well over an excess of 500°F and create significant blast pressures. These explosions can cause significant burns and even kill.

This case is an active investigation and currently being investigated.
