For the second time in less than 24 hours, Lomita Station deputies have recovered another stolen vehicle and have detained five juvenile occupants as the result of an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) hit.

At approximately 2:40 pm on April 1, 2017, Lomita Station deputies located a stolen vehicle in Rancho Palos Verdes in the vicinity of Palos Verdes Drive South and Schooner Drive.  The vehicle, a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro, was reported stolen earlier today in San Pedro.
The vehicle yielded without out incident, and the five juveniles are being booked at Lomita Station on auto theft charges.  The Camaro was released to the owner.

To assist in auto theft prevention, the Sheriff’s Department recommends that vehicle owner’s take extra precautions such as using steering wheel locking devices, hidden ignition kill switches, and car alarms.  Always lock your car and never leave your keys accessible to anyone.
