The risk for severe storms is increasing on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles.

There is now a moderate risk (45%) for severe thunderstorms on Sunday. The activity should begin in southeast Texas Sunday morning, and extend into Louisiana in the afternoon and evening. Isolated tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail will all be possible.

In addition, there is a flash flood threat as well. Two to four inches of rain is expected, with locally higher amounts possible. During periods of heavy rain, the risk for street flooding will increase.

Along the coast, tides will run above normal. During high tide Sunday afternoon, there will be a risk for coastal flooding.
