...Flash Flood Watch will be in effect Sunday and Monday... .A developing strong low pressure system over Texas today will be moving into the central Gulf Coast region Sunday. This system will draw copious gulf moisture northward with efficient rainfall expected to develop and spread over a large portion of southern Louisiana and southern Mississippi. A Flash Flood Watch is being issued to go into effect 1 pm CDT Sunday afternoon through 3 pm CDT Monday afternoon. * Flash Flood Watch FOR portions of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi, including the following areas, in southeast Louisiana, Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Lower Jefferson, Lower Lafourche, Lower Plaquemines, Lower St. Bernard, Lower Terrebonne, Northern Tangipahoa, Orleans, Pointe Coupee, Southern Tangipahoa, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John The Baptist, St. Tammany, Upper Jefferson, Upper Lafourche, Upper Plaquemines, Upper St. Bernard, Upper Terrebonne, Washington, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana. In southern Mississippi, Amite, Hancock, Pearl River, Pike, Walthall, and Wilkinson.

* Heavy rainfall from strong to severe thunderstorms is expected to produce storm total accumulations generally between 3 and 6 inches from Sunday afternoon through Monday afternoon. Some locally higher amounts may be possible from storms that pass over the same location repeatedly.

* If rain rates exceed 2 inches per hour then rapid ponding of water may result in urban and poorly drained areas. Rainfall accumulation of 3 to 6 inches will result in rises on area rivers and streams. Depending on how much rain actually does occur, some minor river flooding is possible by Sunday night or Monday.
