Shooting Suspect Taken to Hospital

Monticello-Yesterday at approximately 5:43 p.m. White County Dispatch received a call of a female subject who had been shot multiple times at 1111 Grace Ct. in Monticello.

Officers arrived to find the victim and rendered medical assistance till the ambulance arrived to transport to the hospital. She was able to give the officers a name and description of the person who allegedly fired the weapon. After a check of the area, information was received of the suspect, Randy McGill, 51 of West Lafayette was heading back to his home at 4227 Trilithon Ct. in West Lafayette.

Officers from West Lafayette Police Department, Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department, Monticello Police Department and the Indiana State Police arrived and set up a perimeter. Communications with McGill were terminated by him at approximately 7:30 p.m. A search warrant was issued and at approximately 11:39 p.m. entry was made by the Tippecanoe County Special Response Team.

McGill was found in a semi-conscious state on the first floor. He was removed from the residence and transported to Franciscan St. Elizabeth East Hospital for treatment. After release from the hospital, he will be transported to the White County Jail and arrested for attempted murder.

The female subject was being treated for gunshot wounds at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. The wounds do not appear to be life threatening. The investigation is continuing with further charges pending.

Also assisting was the White County Sheriff’s Department and White County Prosecutor’s Office. This is all that will be released at this time. I do not have a picture.

Suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
