Parks Bureau & Parks and Recreation Host 7th Annual Basketball Challenge

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Parks Bureau, in partnership with the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Department, will host the Seventh Annual “Parks Basketball Challenge” on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. at George Lane Park, 5520 W. Avenue L-8, Quartz Hill, 93536.
The “Parks Basketball Challenge” is a skills competition for children 7-14 years of age, aimed at promoting an active lifestyle and spending time playing in the Los Angeles County Parks. This event also promotes positive interaction with Sheriff’s personnel who are responsible for security at all Los Angeles County parks. Medals will be awarded for 1st through 3rd place finishers in each age group. The event is free with    t-shirts given to the first 160 competitors, along with several raffle prizes, food and drinks, and a basketball clinic for all of the participants.
This event was made possible with the help from the Honorable Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger and many local businesses in the surrounding community.
