At approximately 3:30 this morning, fire fighters were dispatched to a report of a fire in rural Payne County near 68th Street and East Range Road. Fire fighters arrived and extinguished the flames. At that point, crews discovered a very badly burned male body. Payne County sheriff deputies were called to the homicide scene. The Payne County Sheriff then called OSBI special agents for assistance with the investigation. OSBI special agents have been on scene since 5 a.m. collecting evidence. Investigators need to determine the man’s identity to establish a starting point in the case. Therefore, investigators are asking for anyone who knows of a man missing recently to please call the OSBI hotline at 1-800-522-8017.
