Advisory

Flood Update:

Recent rainfall in the Central Valley and snow in the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada mountain range during the week of March 19-25 increases the potential of flooding in the region surrounding Corcoran. Water is being released from Lake Success, Lake Kaweah, and the Pine Flat Reservoir as determined by the Army Corps of Engineers. Water from these lakes is sent to the Tule River, the North Fork of the Kings River, and other minor river and canal systems.

Please be advised that flash flooding in Corcoran is unlikely. In the event of potential flooding, water will be diverted first to farmland outside of the city limits. Residents, businesses, and public institutions will be provided sufficient notice if flooding will affect the community.

The Cross Creek Flood Control District is taking precautionary steps to reduce the threat of potential flooding to the community of Corcoran. Reconstruction of the Corcoran Levee is 35% complete and work is proceeding according to the established timeline.
