Public Service Days parking enforcement begins April 3

Keep parked vehicles off the street 8 a.m.- 4 p.m.
on neighborhood’s designated day to avoid ticket
 
DEARBORN, Mich. –  In order to ensure the efficient delivery of important services to all residents, enforcement of Public Service Days parking rules will begin the week of April 3-7, 2017.
  To avoid a parking ticket, residents are advised to keep parked vehicles off of the street from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on their designated Public Service Day, which is the same as their neighborhood’s trash day.
  The Public Service Day program actually began March 6, about a month earlier than in past years. To help residents get used to the earlier start date, an education period was launched, and no Public Service Day parking tickets have been issued so far in 2017. That will change the week of April 3-7.
  Public Service Days are not designed to inconvenience residents, but rather to allow the efficient delivery of curb-to-curb street sweeping, tree trimming, catch basin cleaning and other services.
  Note that these services can take place even after trash is collected in a neighborhood, so parked vehicles must be kept off the street until 4 p.m.
  The extension of Public Service Days from early March through mid-December was meant to provide greater overlap with other City services, including yard waste and loose leaf collection schedules, which are handled more effectively when parked vehicles are off the streets. (For instance, curbside yard waste collection began March 13.)
“Residents across the city pay for services with their taxes and they deserve to have them delivered in their neighborhoods in a thorough and effective manner,” Mayor John B. O’Reilly, Jr. said. “Keeping parked cars off the streets gives us that chance.”
