Help Us Identify this Prowler

On 3/19/2017, at approximately 12:30am, the suspect pictured here was caught on video attempting to open car doors, and seen hiding as cars passed by.  He then entered the backyard of a residence on the 500 block of Spruce Street without a legal reason.  There were no indications that he burglarized that residence.  However, this same subject has been caught on video on other occasions in the area of Northhampton and Spruce Streets and is considered a person of interest by Property Crimes Detectives following thefts in the area.

Based on the video he appears to be a light skinned black male, 40-50 years old, 5-08 to 5'10, 160lbs to 190lbs, with a thin goatee.  In all instances where he was caught on camera, he was wearing a dark jacket with a collar and a zippered front, blue jeans, black boots, and a black baseball cap with either a purple or blue bill (the cap does not appear to have any insignia). The suspect walks with a very distinctive limp and may have some deformity to his left hand.

If you recognize this person, please call the Berkeley Police Property Crimes Detail at (510) 981-5737.
