Police Locate Skimmer Device
Investigators with the Jackson Police Department located a skimmer device on a fuel pump. On Thursday, police received reports that people had their identities stolen and money had been fraudulently withdrawn from their bank accounts. Investigators traced the origin of the stolen identities to a fuel pump at 2255 Hollywood Drive. One of the pumps was found to have a skimmer device attached to the inside of the pump.
This skimmer device was recording the information from customers debit cards. The suspect then used the digital information to create duplicate debit cards and used them to withdraw money from the victims’ bank account through an Automated Teller Machine (A.T.M.).
Some photographs were obtained of the suspect at a bank in North Jackson. He appears to be a white male, about 6 feet tall, with blonde/brown hair. He appears to be wearing a military style field jacket. He was driving the white SUV in the attached photographs.
Police are asking the public for help in identifying this suspect. Everyone is encouraged to check their bank statements for any fraudulent activity.
Anyone with information about this case, or any other crime is encouraged to contact the Jackson Police Department at 731-425-8400 or Crime Stoppers at 731-424-8477 or by visiting www.jmcrimestoppers.org to place a cyber tip.
