Advisory

Snow approaching, please remove vehicles from the road & clear sidewalks after snowfall for safe travel.

The following is from the National Weather Service:

BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 PM EDT TUESDAY...

* LOCATIONS...Portions of eastern New Jersey.

* HAZARD TYPES...Heavy snow and sleet as well as strong winds.

* ACCUMULATIONS...Snow accumulation of 10 to 14 inches.

* TIMING...Snow begins between 10 PM and midnight from southwest
to northeast across the warning area and will continue into
Tuesday afternoon. Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are
possible prior to 5 am when snow will probably mix with or
change to sleet for a few hours.

* IMPACTS...The heavy snow and sleet will make many roads nearly impassable and may produce widespread power outages due to the weight of the snow on tree limbs and power lines. Strong winds will lead to blowing snow, reduced visibility, and additional power outages.

* WINDS...Northeast 25 to 35 mph with gusts 50 to 60 mph...highest
along the immediate coast.

* VISIBILITIES...One quarter mile or less at times.

* TEMPERATURES...From the mid 20s to lower 30s.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout conditions...making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If
you must travel...have a winter survival kit with you. If you get
stranded...stay with your vehicle.

Our Public Works are well prepared and will make sure our roads are clear. In order for them to do their best, WE ASK THAT ALL VEHICLES BE REMOVED FROM THE STREET before the snowfall. Police will be out enforcing this to ensure safe routes.

Additionally, please be advised that in order to have safe passage throughout our town, including students walking to school, Borough Code 13-3.1 states that all residents must clear their sidewalks within 12 hours of daylight. Thank you and be safe.

We thank you for your attention to this advisory.

Be well,

Borough Administration
