Mayor declares snow emergency for Mount Carmel Borough.

Mayor Phillip Cimino has declared a snow emergency for Mount Carmel Borough.

The following streets are affected: Oak Street, from Avenue to Seventh Street, beginning tonight at midnight until at least 6 p.m. Tuesday. It is MANDATORY for vehicles to be moved on Oak Street or they will be ticketed.

Mayor Cimino is also asking residents to voluntarily move vehicles on the following PennDOT routes which are SNOW EMERGENCY ROUTES: Avenue, Market Street, Hickory Street to Fifth Street, Fifth Street to the Centralia highway and Third Street.

The mayor asks residents that during this storm to stay off the roads to allow plow crews to do their jobs and clear the snow unless you have an essential job or it is an emergency.

He also wanted to remind residents to keep fire hydrants clear, don’t shovel snow into the street and assist neighbors.
