Alert

The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for our area.

Good Morning All,
Last night we sent out an Advisory for a Winter Storm Watch & High Wind Watch. Well, those 2 conditions are becoming more of a reality as the storm approaches. With that the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Blizzard Warning for our area. We are urging our residents to make preparations for a significant storm to hit us tonight and tomorrow. Much of our area is farm land and therefore blowing snow (aka: Blizzard Conditions) will make travel extremely dangerous. If there is a need to go out, we urge resident to do it today, this evening or hold out till Wednesday.

The storm is expected to start affecting us around 10pm and last through a majority of the day tomorrow. The Current Blizzard Warning is for timed for 8pm tonight till 6am tomorrow, however as long as current forecasts stay true, we expect the Warning to be extended tomorrow.

The Career Staff is working diligently today to ensure our equipment is ready for the storm. All Fire Apparatus, Ambulances, & Support Vehicles are being prepared. We are also asking for your help. If there is a fire hydrant near your house, please try to dig it out. We request a 3 foot area around the hydrant to be cleared to allow our hoses to attach to it. See the picture on our FB Page: https://www.facebook.com/PlumstedFireDistrict/

As always, all this information is based on "Predictions". Things could (probably will) change. We would rather our residents be prepared for a snow storm then unprepared.

Instructions:

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions...making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If
you must travel...have a winter survival kit with you. If you get
stranded...stay with your vehicle.
