On March 10, 2017, at 9:46 p.m. Deputy U.B. Smith conducted a traffic stop on a Silver 2003 Pontiac Grand Am for not using its turn signal when turning off of Broadway into the Save A Lot parking lot. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Smith detected the odor of burnt Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. At that point Deputy Smith began a roadside investigation that lead to the driver 39 year old Trisha Barnett being placed into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail. At the Gibson County Jail Ms. Barnett was charged with Possession of Paraphernalia, Possession of a Synthetic Drug, and Possession of Methamphetamines. She has since posted a $1500 bond.
