Deputies arrest a couple in Needles for cruelty to a child after discovering extremely unsanitary and dangerous conditions

DATE/TIME: March 9, 2017/ 1:13 pm

INCIDENT: PC 273A(a), Cruelty to a Child

LOCATION: 1400 block of Front Street, Needles

SUSPECT(S): Hector Ramirez 53 years old and Teresa Castillo 43 years old

VICTIM(S): 4 year old boy and 2 year old girl


SUMMARY: Deputies from the Colorado River Sheriff/ Needles Police responded to the 1400 block of Front Street in Needles after receiving a report of an unclothed 4 year old boy wandering in the street. Through the course of the investigation, deputies discovered that the children of Hector Ramirez and Teresa Castillo were living in an extremely unsanitary and dangerous environment. Based on the condition of the residence and the lack of parental care, Ramirez and Castillo were placed under arrest for PC 273A(a), Cruelty to a Child. Ramirez and Castillo were arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center, their bail set at $100,000.00. The two children were placed in the custody of Child and Family Services.
