DEARBORN, Mich. – The City of Dearborn, in conjunction with Dearborn Heights and the Red Cross, is again opening two overnight emergency shelters starting at 6 p.m. tonight (March 10) for residents in the two communities who are without power due to the windstorm.
The shelters are in Dearborn. They are at McCollough-Unis School, 7801 Maple Street, and Stout Middle School, 18500 Oakwood Boulevard. Note that the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center is NOT a shelter location any longer.
The shelters will have cots for sleeping and basic blankets and pillows. People are welcome to bring their own blankets and pillows. Volunteers will assist at the shelter operations. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. No weapons or pets (except service animals) are allowed.
The shelters will be open until 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 11. However, officials will be evaluating conditions to determine if additional nights are needed.
