Prolonged power outage and winter temperatures remain a challenge. If you are using a generator, do not run it anywhere in or upwind of the home. If using candles, keep them in a non combustible container lined with foil for enhanced reflection. Maintain working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors utilizing the battery back-up. Check on neighbors, especially the elderly to ensure they are safe. Stop your homes water pipes from freezing by either keeping a small trickle flowing, or draining the system and adding winterizing solution. The Costick Center at 28600 11 Mile Rd is open as a Warming Center 7 a.m.-11 p.m. through Sunday March 12th. For more information, please call 248-473-1800.
