MCHENRY COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE APPLIES FOR REACCREDITATION FROM NATIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMISSION

A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) will arrive Monday, March 20, 2017, to examine all aspects of McHenry County Sheriff’s Office’s policy and procedures: management; operations; and support services. The MCSO is working toward the goal of maintaining its status as a CALEA-accredited agency.

As part of the on-site assessment, agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 beginning at 5:00 P.M. The session will be conducted at the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Small Training Room, Suite 250, located in the McHenry County Courthouse, 2200 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock, IL 60098. Speakers are asked to enter the building through the east entrance of the facility.

If for some reason an individual cannot speak at the public information session but would still like to provide comments to the assessment team, he/she may do so by calling (815) 334-4958 on March 21, 2017 between the hours of 3:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. Comments will be taken during those hours by the members of the Assessment Team.

Telephone comments as well as appearances at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s compliance with CALEA Standards. A copy of the standards will be available for review at the MCSO, 2200 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock, Illinois. Please contact Accreditation Manager Jodi Croner at (815) 334-0315 for an appointment.

Anyone wishing to submit written comments regarding the MCSO’s ability to comply with the standards for accreditation are requested to write the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Blvd., Suite 320, Gainesville, Virginia, 20155. The MCSO CALEA Accreditation Program Manager is Christy Goddard. She has assigned the assessment team composed of law enforcement professionals from out-of-state agencies to review written materials, conduct interviews and visit offices and other locations where compliance can be observed.

Once the CALEA Assessors complete their review of the agency, they will report back to the full Commission, which will then decide if the agency is to be granted reaccredited status. The accreditation process, under the direction of Sheriff Bill Prim, is managed by Jodi Croner, CALEA Manager.
