**Update** #LASD Barricaded Suspect, *IN CUSDODY*, 1700 Blk PCH, Redondo Beach
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Century Station deputies received a call for service of a “carjacking” that occurred on March 1, 2017, at approximately 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of 68th Street and Gage Avenue, unincorporated Los Angeles.
Shortly after the deputies broadcast regarding the stolen vehicle description, South Gate Police Department personnel located the vehicle driving through their city and initiated a pursuit. The suspect drove the vehicle through several cities and jurisdictions in an attempt to evade law enforcement.
The pursuit entered and ended in the city of Redondo Beach. Redondo Beach Police Department assumed command of the pursuit and after several tactical attempts to end the pursuit he was forced to stop. The suspect refused to exit the vehicle at the commands of police officers and barricaded himself inside the vehicle.
The initial crime took place in the County of Los Angeles, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) personnel assumed command of the tactical response.
Several verbal attempts were made by SEB personnel to persuade the suspect to surrender, and at approximately 11:20 AM, the suspect exited the vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect was transported to Century Sheriff’s Station and detained pending further investigation.
The area surrounding this incident was rendered safe and residents were allowed to return to their homes.
