Weather Warning
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for Northwestern Athens County until 200 PM.
At 1101 AM, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain has ended, however streams and creeks will continue to rise as runoff enters the waterways. Many small streams and creeks are either at bank full or have overflowed their banks and it will still take several hours for the water to recede. Continue to use caution when traveling and be aware of ongoing road closures due to high water.
Some locations that will experience flooding include Athens, Nelsonville, Glouster, Chauncey, Buchtel, Jacksonville, Murray City and Trimble.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS;
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths
occur in vehicles.
