Deer Set On Fire (Fulton)

(Rochester) Indiana Conservation Officers and Fulton County Sheriff’s Department are seeking information regarding a wild deer that was found alive, on fire, near the intersection of State Road 25 and County Road 400 North.

In the early morning hours of February 16th a deer was struck and injured by a car. The deer was still alive when an accelerant was poured over the wild animal, then ignited. The vehicle that struck the deer left. It is believed to be a blue or black GM model, possibly 1992-2002 Camaro, Trans-Am, or Firebird, based on car parts left at the scene.

A short time later a passerby noticed the deer and called police. Fulton County Sheriff’s Department arrived and found the deer alive and smoldering. Officers put the deer down and started an investigation.

If you have any information regarding this incident should contact the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department Crime Stoppers at 223-7867 or Indiana Conservation Officers Turn in a Poacher Line at 1-800-TIP-IDNR (or online http://www.in.gov/dnr/lawenfor/2745.htm). As with any report of the illegal taking of wildlife, callers can remain anonymous and they may receive a reward for any information leading to the arrest of a wildlife violator.
