Update on Tuolumne River and Power Restoration

Stanislaus County – On February 20, 2017 at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Stanislaus County Office of Emergency Services utilized Stan Aware to notify residents along the Tuolumne River that Turlock Irrigation District opened one of the three Controlled Spillway Gates at Don Pedro Reservoir.

In the interest of electrical safety near the River, TID and MID de-energized power lines along the Tuolumne River channel causing the loss of power to approximately 2,000 electrical service connections from La Grange to the confluence of the Tuolumne and San Joaquin rivers.

As of today, the spillway gate remains open and TID has reported a consistent water flow of 16,000 CFS which has raised the Tuolumne River at 9th Street in Modesto to approximately 58.64 feet.

TID and MID have been working diligently to restore power to those residents that have been affected by the river rising. TID has reported that those services have been restored and the only services with out power are those impacted by water. TID will need to inspect the services once the water recedes before they can restore the power.
