Advisory

Update: Stanislaus County Storm Impacts and Resources

Stanislaus County – This current weather system is forecasted to last through tonight, and will be followed by a short break Sunday. More rainfall is expected to return Monday and last through at least Tuesday. Saturated soils coupled with high winds on Monday could potentially result in toppled trees and power lines.

Based on the forecast from National Weather Service, expect a high wind advisory for Monday, Feb. 20. Information on how to report fallen trees or flooded roadways can be found here - http://www.stanemergency.org/naturalDisasters/weather.shtm.

Upcoming weather forecasts for Stanislaus County and surrounding area are available from the National Weather Service here - http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?zoneid=CAZ019.

TID is advising that the current combined forecast for Monday, Feb. 20, and Tuesday, Feb. 21, calls for a sum of 4.9 inches of precipitation in the watershed above Don Pedro Reservoir. If this forecasted precipitation develops into actual inflow to Don Pedro Reservoir, this volume of water would put Don Pedro Reservoir above elevation 830 feet, forcing TID to operate its controlled spillway in compliance with the US Army Corps of Engineers Flood Control Manual for the Reservoir.

It is important to note this forecast continues to fluctuate hourly in duration and magnitude, but prudent planning requires that TID treat these forecasts as actual precipitation numbers and operate accordingly. TID continues to monitor storms and take necessary precautions. TID will provide updates daily.

Residents should be prepared for the potential of additional regionalized flooding events in the coming days. Always avoid flooded roads, remain clear of fast-moving creeks and rivers, and follow all emergency signage.
