#004 Arson/Suspicious Circumstances
At 5:55 a.m., Officer Sun investigated a call that was initially thought to be an arson in the 38800 block of Fremont Bl. Fremont Fire called for assistance with a vehicle fire. A Dodge Neon was badly damaged by the fire and a second vehicle parked next to the vehicle was also damaged. There were no witnesses, but officers later viewed surveillance video that showed a white vehicle pull into the business. It appears that when suspects tried to jump start the Neon (to possibly steal) that it caught on fire. No further suspect information, the camera footage was not very good and therefore it’s very hard to see anything.
#007 Commercial Burglary
CSO Schwartz and FTO Ernst investigated a commercial burglary in the 3300 block of Edison Way. The loss is a propane torch, a 9” grinder, a carbonic gun, and misc items. Some of the loss will be engraved with “Lee’s Imperial Welding.”
#016 Unattended Death
Officers responded to a home in the 4900 block of Omar St when the RP noticed mail piled up at a neighbor’s door, with no sighting of the neighbor for several days. Officer Stiers and Settle forced entry and found the 50 year old male deceased inside his home. Nothing suspicious was found, the ACSO Coroner responded for an unattended death. Investigated by Officer Stiers.
#025 Outside Assiste
Officers responded to the Fremont Courthouse on a report that a man tackled a woman in the parking lot. Officer Kerner investigated and learned that a bail bondsman was taking a woman into custody.
#026 Arson
At 12:44 p.m., Officer Blanchet investigated a vehicle (black Mercedes C240) arson in the 5000 block of Castlewood Co. The scene was processed by CSI Wilson. Nothing further.
#028 Residential Burglary
A resident in the 1900 block of Lockwood Ave came home to find their front door barricaded from the inside. A team of officers immediately responded and cleared the residence. The home was confirmed to have been burglarized. Officer Lastrape and FTO Gourley investigated the burglary.
#043 Residential Burglary
A residential burglary occurred in the 700 block of Old Canyon Rd between 12:45 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Entry was made by unknown suspect(s) prying off a window screen and pushing open a partially open bathroom window to gain access.
#045 DUI Arrest
AT 7:00 p.m., Officer Gerber arrested 19 year old adult male for drunk driving as well as for his drunk driving warrant after he was found passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle that was still running on the 40600 block of Fremont Blvd.
#004 Driving on a Suspended License Arrest
Officer De Stefano conducted a traffic stop at Fremont Blvd/Ice House Tr. He arrested a 21 year old adult male for driving on a suspended license.
#P17017905 Warrant Arrest
Officer Berrier conducted a pedestrian stop at Osgood Rd/S Grimmer Bl. He contacted a 32 year old adult male and arrested him for his misdemeanor warrants.
#002 Trespassing Arrest
A local hospital called and advised that an adult male was belligerent and causing problems at the hospital. Officers arrived and contact the male, who refuses to leave. He is arrested for trespassing and a probation violation by Officer Paiva. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail.
#005 Suspicious Circumstances
At approximately 3:30 a.m., Officer. Burch and Officer Sun were dispatched to the intersection of Paseo Padre Pk/Decoto Rd for a welfare check. The reporting party advised that a red sedan was stopped in the roadway at a green light. Officers arrived and found a red Hyundai sedan with white paper plates stopped in the roadway. As officers approached the vehicle, Officer Sun observed a handgun on the front passenger seat. The driver (single occupant), described as a white male adult, quickly fled in the vehicle at a high rate of speed. Officers attempted to locate the vehicle but lost it in the area of I880/Decoto Rd. Case investigated by Officer Burch.
Follow up: A midnight officer working the following night (Thursday 2/16) located the same vehicle in the Walmart parking lot on Osgood Rd. A high risk traffic stop was attempted, but the vehicle fled again at a high rate of speed. Later, a Sergeant observed the vehicle exit I880 at Stevenson Blvd at a high rate of speed. The vehicle turned northbound onto Farwell Dr and was located, unoccupied on Dewey Pl. An extensive K9 search was conducted; however the suspect was not located. The vehicle was found to be stolen out of Fremont.
