Stanislaus County Office of Emergency Services Activates for Flooding in the West County

On February 13, 2017 at 8:00 a.m., Stanislaus County OES initiated a Level 1 Emergency Operations Center activation for the local flooding along the San Joaquin River over the last week in West Stanislaus County. The activation allows for the coordination of resources among the various county agencies.

The high flows of the San Joaquin River flooded Fishermans Bend Trailer Park on River Road and Catfish Camp Trailer Park on Crows Landing Road over the weekend. River and Grayson Roads were also closed during this time period due to water on the roadway. Crows Landing Rd was closed Monday afternoon due to water on the roadway near the bridge at the San Joaquin River.

The Red Cross responded on Sunday afternoon and opened a shelter at Hammon Senior Center located at 1033 West Las Palmas in Patterson, CA for those families affected by the flooding of the trailer parks. The shelter is expected to remain open through tonight.

Safety personnel will continue monitoring all the rivers and creeks in Stanislaus County. The concern is the rain that is expected at the end of the week. Water levels in the San Joaquin River will continue to rise potentially causing more flooding on the roadways and property along the river. Stanislaus County OES is asking residents that live near the low-lying areas of the river to be proactive by moving animals and property to higher ground.
