Major Traffic Collision 
On February 13, 2017, at approximately 4:47 am, officers from the Torrance Police Department responded to a major injury traffic collision in the 17500 block of Crenshaw Boulevard.
On arrival, officers discovered that a 2011, Toyota Prius Taxi Cab had collided with a pedestrian in the northbound lanes of Crenshaw Boulevard. The initial investigation indicates the Toyota was traveling northbound in the number one lane of Crenshaw Boulevard when it collided with a pedestrian who was crossing eastbound, outside of a crosswalk in the 17500 block of Crenshaw Boulevard. The pedestrian, an unidentified male adult was treated by Torrance Fire Department personnel at the scene and transported to a local hospital where he is listed in grave condition. The driver of the vehicle, a 61 year-old male from Torrance was not injured, and alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
Crenshaw Boulevard was closed in both directions between Artesia Boulevard and 177th Street for approximately four hours during the course of the investigation.
This collision is being investigated by the Torrance Police Department’s Traffic Division under the command of Captain Martin Vukotic, Commander of the Special Operations Bureau.
