Lake Level Advisory for Clear Lake

As of this afternoon, Clear Lake has, or is about to reach FLOOD STAGE. At 9.0’Rumsey, there will most likely be some localized flooding and inundation. Should there be any wind activity, the local lake level may exceed the posted heights.

The current forecast calls for an additional 1.5-2” of rain through tomorrow (Thursday) night, and winds should also subside. The lake is forecast to peak sometime Saturday, near 10’Rumsey.
Lake level maps are available on-line at: http://tinyurl.com/zgnr77l These maps are not to be used as a precise tool for identifying your hazards, but only to provide general awareness of areas at risk. Your best gauge of your hazard is your local knowledge of the lake and surrounding areas, as conditions may change rapidly,

Residents should be mindful of their proximity to the Lake, and be prepared to leave and move to high ground. When leaving, be sure to take supplies to be out of your home for several days. Vital Documents, medications, pets, and special equipment should all be ready to leave with you on short notice. Sheriff’s OES will work with the Red Cross to identify shelter sites, should that become necessary.

DO NOT DRIVE or WALK through running or standing water. As little as 6 inches of moving water can cause vehicles to lose control.

If your home or business is inundated, please contact the Lake County Community Development office and Lake County Environmental Health before re-occupying the structure. They can be reached at 707-263-2221, & 707-263-1164, respectively.

We should be seeing a drying period starting Friday, and through the weekend. However, another similar series of storms is forming, and may impact us starting Thursday of next week.

Sheriff’s OES and other County Agencies will be monitoring the situation, and providing updates as necessary.
